PolioRide 2003
With a group of 20 in 3 months by bicycle 12,000 km's from Vladivostok to Scheveningen for the adventure and to sollicit donations for the WHO programme to rid the world of Polio. May 28, 2003, we leave Vladivostok with the goal to arrive 95 days later in Scheveningen on August 30, for a gala reception on the Scheveningen Pier. Ninety days of cycling with an average of 150 km per day.
Tour d'Afrique 2007
Saturday January 13, 2007, we start in Cairo. Exactly 4 months later is the planned arrival in Cape Town. 96 days of cycling with an average of 125 km per day and 24 rest days is the planning. The route leads us through 10 countries, over asfalt, gravel and dirt roads, through desert, savannah and jungle areas, endless plains and hills up to 3000 m, through villages where people live at a subsistence level but also through modern cities. This at temperatures that can range from 0 to 50 C, through dryness, sun and rain.
