Without problems and after a smooth flight we landed at Cairo Airport where with the help of a young man who introduced himself as Shady (a bit obscure name but it is the egypt way of pronouncing his name Shaddie he explained) we passed through customs, a rapid trip by minivan and we were soon dropped off at the Nile Hilton, checked in, went to our room, unpacked a few neccesary items and finally hit the sack at 3:00 A.M. We got up a bit later of course, looked around the hotel, too late for breakfast but had a good coffee and a danish in the lobby after which Mom looked over the sites to see while I had a haircut (at last a good haircut for only 8 euro!), got a wireless prepaid card (10 euro for 60 minutes, valid one month) for the laptop so I van mail you this message!!!!  In a moment we will walk about a bit and explore the hotel surroundings. After dinner we have an appointment with our "Shady" guide to see the lightshow at the Gizeh pyramids, a bit corny perhaps but shouldn't be missed according to the LonelyPlanet guidebook. Ki, could you phone Anita and relay this message, her broadband doesn't work yet and I forgot to put her work mailaddress on this laptop.
Love, Dad en Mom.

BERICHT (2) NAAR DE KINDEREN, M & D ON A C IN E

Hi dotteries,

Here a greeting from your m(om)&d(ad) in e(gypt) on a c(amel); you get it now?! having a good time and the sights are good when the smog lifts and we can open our eyes in between coughing fits; still don't have a working laptop- iridium connection and I am having doubts I'll ever get one; but maybe tomorrow will be the day!? Tomorrow we will visit the Citadel, a Mosque and the Sukh (bazaar = kind of an old- fashioned shopping centre; the first ones around in this world anyway).

love, mom and dad.
